Start Date: June 16, 2025

Registration Dates: Full Teams: April 15 through May 20. Free Agents: April 15 through May 31. Registration is first come first serve and league may be full prior to end date if max teams are reached

Game Nights: Kindergarten through Modified: Thursday & Friday nights | JV & Varsity: Mondays & Wednesday nights. NO games on weekends for any teams in the Summer

Game Times: Games will range from 5:15pm to 9:00pm

Choose your number of games: Full Teams 4 games: $200.00 (pick your game night) | Full Teams 8 games: $350.00 (price reduction from $500 in 2024). Free Agents must choose 8 game option.

Playoffs: All 8 game teams make playoffs

Eligibility: Full Teams: League is open to ALL teams Kindergarten through Varsity.

Free Agents: League is open to Grades K-6 only. Cost is $99.00 per player for 8-game season. Includes Team Jersey.

Roster Size: Teams are allowed up to 12 players and 2 coaches (max) for Free Agent teams. No Roster Max for full teams.

Admissions: There is a $2.00 admission fee for all spectators (does not include players or 2 coaches per team).

Payment Format: Free Agents and full teams grades K-8 must submit payment at the time of registration. School affiliated JV and Varsity teams may submit payment via check once your school remits check. Checks for JV and Varsity school teams can be made out to "Bulldogs Sports Complex" and mailed to the address below. Checks must be received by May 20, 2025.

Free Agents/Individuals

Free Agent teams are offered for Grades K-6. If you register as a Free Agent (or individual), you will be placed on a team with other Free Agents. There are no practices offered for Free Agents, this option gives kids a chance to play on a team and in the league when they do not have a team already. Free Agent teams are coached by volunteer parents, so if interested in coaching please reach out the email address at the bottom of this page.

Spring 2025 Basketball League

Spring Basketball League | Grades K through 6 (Divisions are below)

Who is eligible to play in the Winter BYBL?

Kids in Grades K-6 are eligible to play

Grades K-6 divisions are open to all full teams as well as free agents (individuals). Full teams can be comprised of kids from any school district (no restrictions in Spring/Summer/Fall League).

Spring League Divisions

Kindergarten through 2nd Grade Division (Coed)

Structure

Start Date: March 26, 2025

Game Nights: Wednesday night through Friday night (1-2 games per week - NO WEEKENDS).

Game Length: 20 minute practice followed by 30 minute game (15 minute halves, no clock stoppage)

Game Times: Tipoff times range from 4:30pm to 7:30pm and will vary throughout the season.

Season Length: 10 game season

Playoffs: No playoffs

Eligibility: All teams (not school specific)

Registration Dates: February 1 through March 16th *extended*. Registration is first come first serve and league may be full prior to end date if max teams are reached. Payment is due at the time of registration.

This league is for basketball players to work on their skills and get real some game experience. Practices are led by volunteer parents and games are referee'd by a BSC staff member. Games are played on an 8-foot hoop with regular league rules (down below). This league is for all boys and girls Grades Kindergarten through 2nd grade.

Pricing

You can sign your child up as an individual (free agent) and we will place them on a Free Agent team - or you can register your own entire full team to take advantage of a lower per-player rate.

Individual/Free agent: $99.00 per player (registering just your son or daughter)

Free agents are put on the Free agent team with other Individual registrants. Free Agents are provided with team uniforms with their registration.

Full Team: $400.00 per team (registering your own full team)

Winter 2024-25 Basketball League

Winter School Basketball League | Grades K through 6 (Divisions are below)

Who is eligible to play in the Winter BYBL?

Kids in Grades K-6 are eligible to play

Grades K-2 divisions are open to all full teams as well as free agents (individuals). Full teams can be comprised of kids from any school district in the K-2 divisions (School teams, Rec teams and AAU teams are all allowed in K-2).

Grades 3-6 divisions are limited to school teams ONLY as well as school based Conklin and Kirkwood youth teams. We are not taking any AAU or travel teams for grades 3-6 and there will be no Free Agent (individual) signups for 3rd-6th grade. You must sign up for basketball through your school or through Conklin/Kirkwood if you live in those townships for grades 3-6.

Winter League Divisions

Kindergarten through 2nd Grade Division (Coed)

Start Date: December 9, 2024

Game Nights: Tuesdays, Wednesday & Thursday nights

Game Length: 20 minute practice followed by 30 minute game (15 minute halves, no clock stoppage)

Season Length: 10 game season

Registration Dates: July 23rd through November 15th for full teams and through November 29th for Free Agents *Recently extended*. Registration is first come first serve and league may be full prior to end date if max teams are reached. Payment is due at the time of registration.

What's new in 2024-25??

Winter BYBL will now offer 2 referees & 1 table staff for all 6th grade games. All games in lower divisions (except the Kindergarten/1st grade division) will offer 1 referee and require each team to provide a volunteer at the scorers table to run the clock/book. The K/1 will practice/game will be managed and officiated by volunteer parent coaches.

Introduction of a new division, our Kindergarten/1st grade division - We have separated the K-2 into 2 divisions (K/1 and 1/2) so that Kindergartners no longer have to play against 2nd graders. We are using the K-1 league as an introductory league with a focus on learning the basics of the game (no stealing the ball etc) so kids can grow to love the game at an early age and achieve some success.

Cost effective pricing - We have adjusted our offerings to $350 for 8 games and $425 for 12 games, giving coordinators a more price friendly options for your parents.

Rehiring of referees - No two ways to put it, last year we struggled with quality referees. To combat some of the struggles we had in the pinstripes last season, we have rehired 3 referees who were with us over the first 3 BYBL seasons (Ralph Williams as Head Referee along with Brent Williams and Bradley Christian). With their return we will not be re-hiring most of our officials from last season. With the veteran presence of the officials we are re-hiring we expect a tremendous improvement in the quality of officiating in 2024-25.

A shorter overall season - Lets be honest, at almost 2x the length of modified basketball, the Youth Basketball season as presently constructed is too long for everyone. This year, the BYBL will start 2 weeks later (early December instead of Mid-November) and for the first time ever we will be off during the Christmas holiday (no games December 23 - January 2). Games will resume on January 3rd and the season will wrap up late February/early March.

Preseason and Postseason Tournaments - These tournaments are available for school teams who want 2 extra games during the preseason (championship medals to winners) and for school teams who want to take part in our Postseason Tourney in March (3+ games with Champion shirts).

Additional Information

BSC provides 2 referees *NEW*, and 1 table staff for all 6th grade games. BSC provides 1 referee for all Kindergarten through 5th grade games. All teams must have 1 volunteer staff for the scorer's table for Kindergarten through 5th grade games. GAMES WILL NOT START until each team has 1 volunteer.
All players must be on a team's official roster with a completed waiver in Leagueapps to be eligible to play.
All teams practice at their own facilities. We do have limited space available if teams are interested in renting facility space to practice.
All teams must provide their own warmup basketball and a game basketball for all games - including BSC games.
Teams are responsible for providing their own insurance, uniforms, equipment, etc.
Each team is allowed 2 coaches per team + 1 volunteer for scorers table for the Kindergarten through 5th grade divisions. Coaches and volunteers must sign-in each game at the check-in desk. EVERYONE (players and coaches) must check in.
If you would like to submit payment for your team fees by Check, please register your team in leagueapps FIRST and then make check out to "Bulldogs Sports Complex" and mail to PO Box 511 Vestal, NY 13851. Check must be received by no later than October 30, 2024. Mail out by October 23rd to ensure it arrives in time for your team not to be de-registered.
$2.00 admission for all spectators age 6 and up at the BSC for all games Kindergarten through 6th grade. Under age 5 is Free.

Grievance Policy/24-hour rule

If you are unhappy about something that occured in one of your basketball games and want to communicate that with our administrative staff, we have a process for that depending upon what your role is with your team:

Parents: If you have an issue, please contact your team coach.

Coaches: If you have an issue, please contact your school coordinators.

Coordinators: If you have an issue, please contact us via email after 24 hours have elapsed at BulldogsSportsComplex@gmail.com

Why have a 24-hour rule? Because emotions can run high in youth sports and it is important that all parties take time to calm down and communicate in an appropriate and professional manner. Approaching our staff or writing a seething email from your vehicle immediately after a game has finished is not something we will tolerate in our league and you will not get a response. Contact your team coach/coordinator and they will contact us.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can we make a schedule request? Specific schedule requests will be reviewed and accommodated as much as possible as long as requests are made BEFORE the schedule is posted in leagueapps. Once we publish the schedule it will not change unless the league admin has to make adjustments (i.e. weather, staffing, etc.). Schedule requests are not guaranteed to be accommodated and must be sent via email (not text or phone call).

2. Can we request to not play on a certain day each week? Teams have the option to request to omit ONE (1) weekday from their regular game schedule. Any requests must be submitted via email (not text) BEFORE the schedule is posted. Saturdays cannot be omitted and Teams cannot request to plan on a specific day each week, you can omit one day but we need flexibliity to make your schedule.

3. Can a player play in a division outside of their current grade? Players are welcome to play UP a division (i.e. a 5th grader can play in the 6th grade division) at the discretion of the parents, child, and coach. Players cannot play DOWN a division (i.e. a 5th grader cannot play down in the 4th grade division). Players can play on multiple teams as long as they team is not within the same age group and they are not playing DOWN.

4. What happens if we do not have enough players to play in a scheduled game? The game will be counted as a forfeit (not rescheduled) and the team canceling will receive a loss in the standings while the opposing team receives a win in the standings. Forfeits do count as a game played. Teams must notify us as soon as possible to give us time to find a replacement team so the opposing team can still get a game in. A "no call, no show" is unacceptable and teams may be removed from the league if this occurs.

5. What happens if our game gets canceled due to weather? We will attempt to reschedule games from that day as long as there is room in the overall schedule to do so. With over 1,000 games to be played in the BYBL every winter, the schedule is very tight and a reschedule may not be possible.

6. Can I add players to our team after the season begins? Roster changes are allowed but all players must fit the criteria of the league (must go to that school and be grade eligible) AND must be on the team's official roster in LeagueApps BEFORE competing in a game.

Winter Basketball Kickoff Tournament

*The Winter kickoff tournament is open to ALL school teams grades 3-6. Eligible teams include those participating in the 2024 BYBL season and teams playing in other leagues*

League Dates: Wednesday November 20th through Sunday November 24th (week before Thanksgiving)

Divisions: Grades 3-6 only (separate boys/girls divisions).

All teams will play 2 games - Championship Medals for division champions

Game Length: 16 minute halves, clock stops last 1 minute of each half & on all Free Throws & Timeouts

Cost: Only $99.00 per team

Eligibility: All school teams only + Conklin & Kirkwood youth organizations are eligible.

Registration Dates: July 23rd through November 10th (Registration and payment due by 11/10). Registration is first come first serve and league may be full prior to end date if max teams are reached prior to registration date.

The Winter League Kickoff Tournament is a warmup for all teams prior to their Winter season. Teams will play 2 games each. All Division Champions will receive medals. These games are a great way for your teams to get a couple extra games in prior to their Winter season beginning!
